It’s been a fun three years serving up unique selections to our customers. Honcho was created with small family businesses & producers in mind. We hope we brought new & interesting stories to our guests.
We have met so many terrific people & are proud of all of our staff throughout the years for their warm, inviting & professional hospitality.
We are so grateful to have had this opportunity & experience. A sincere thank you to everyone involved. If we can say goodbye & leave folks with satisfying, fun memories then we have succeeded in our mission.

Honcho hits the low-key high mark
"Honcho, the bar Rod Newman opened in downtown Los Altos in late 2015, is a great place for people who want a taste of cocktail culture without being overwhelmed by high-proof spirits.
I slipped in there recently with Mrs. Cocktail Chronicles and a couple of friends who had recommended it — and it was a good thing we went with them. You could very easily pass by the store front’s frosted glass windows without noticing — we did until our friends pulled us back. It’s not a huge space inside, and there was quite a buzzy crowd there for a Wednesday night."

Head of Honcho uncorks wine bar
"At Honcho – a newly opened craft beer and wine lounge in downtown Los Altos – proprietor Rod Newman is all about reds, whites and relationships.
“I really enjoy interacting with people,” the Los Altos resident said. “My mother is a lifetime teacher – maybe I got that from her.”
She also bequeathed the bar’s name, taken from her affectionate parental chiding: “Look who’s the head honcho.”
